Chicken Pox: I had it as a child but never again thru several exposures. My
kids were exposed at an LLL picnic. One mom who did home daycare brought a
preschooler whose sores, evidently, were not quite dry. My 3 yr old (still
tandem nursing) got it first as he was the one playing most with the 'carrier'
child. ~10 days later, my fully BFd 6 wk old, got it. He had no contact with
any of the preschoolers at the picnic, just his brother at home. ~10 days
later, my 6 yr old daughter got it. She had nursed 4 mos (with standard poor
information). If memory serves (this was 20 years ago) the 3 yr old had the
worst case, but the 6 yr old was out of school for approx a week.
BFd Baby Wt Gain: My older boy weighed 8 lb 13 oz at birth. He nursed like he
thought he was never going to be fed again. He got red in the face & worked up
a sweat. Definite over feeding, but he fought hard against being detatched &
spit out pacifier. I went from a pre-preg AA to a very tight D during those
first months. He weighed 26 lbs at 6 mos on HM alone. As an adult, he has no
over-eating problems or excess fat at 5'11": 16T shirt, 32" waist, athletic (&
smart, even if I do say so myself. :-) )
