An acquaintance of mine brought this up recently. She had never had any
problems caused by the hairs on her areolae, but had noticed that both of
her sons preferred one breast over the other, and that the hairs had
literally been worn off on that breast. She still encourages her younger
son to feed on the other breast, which still has hairs on it. But she said
that she had "hit the wall" regarding breastfeeding in public, when her 2
year old announced loudly for the world to hear, "I won't nurse on that
breast. It has HAIRS on it!"
