I recently received a WIC newsletter (don't want to name the state) that had
a lead article on credentialing for LC's. In terms of CLE (certified
lactation educator) "there is no certifying body for this designation.
People using it have taken some breastfeeding course or workshop." I am
proud to be both CLE and IBCLC and received my CLE from UCLA. Are there
other groups that confer this credential? By the way, to Pat Gorman, use
them both! I feel that they are complementary to each other - don't RN's use
RN and BSN, etc?
Apparently the statement re: CLE comes from a book on lactation which is very
highly thought of - this statement sounds very divisive and incendiary to me
and the others who have earned their CLE from a respected institution.
This is my own opinion and I don't wish to start any arguments; just wanted
to share this information with other 'netters.
