Heard today of a mother who is pumping her milk at home in a rural
area for a premature baby still in hospital. She was notified by the
Hydro (our electricity supplier) that the power would be off for a
day while they did maintenance work on the line. She told them they
couldn't cut it off because she had to pump and explained the
importance of breastmilk. The power went off as notified, but not
before the Hydro had installed a generator at home for her to pump
her milk, etc.

This same mother has access to a pump courtesy of a local Rotary
group that raised funds to buy some pumps for the area a few months
ago. Her husband was a prime fundraiser, not knowing that his baby
was to be one of the first to benefit.
