Can I add something to this discussion? Re: Jack Newman, YES he is a gem.
For those of you who do not know him, he is a doctor in Toronto who runs a
bf clinic.
He has a nice regime using gentian violet. However, it is used in LIMITED
doses, and importantly, it is used 1/2% in WATER. That is onehalf percent.
It usually comes in ALCOHOL, which would feel awful on a wound. Many mothers
with yeast on breasts have cracks and cuts, and the tissue is friable, much
like a vaginal tissue that is irritated by yeast. SO....who would want to
put alcohol on THAT???
Here in Vermont, you must ORDER gentian violet mixed in water. It takes a
day, and the pharmacist is getting used to doing it. ONly one pharmacy will
make it up that way.
