Diane:
Elocon(Mometasone) is a medium potency topical corticosteroid. If
placed on the breast, it should probably be washed off prior to nursing,
but I really doubt enough of a dose would be absorbed by the infant even
without washing. Its probably a very good choice for reducing inflammation
and pain on the nipple.
Naproxen for pain is another matter. A typical NSAID(nonsteroidal
antiinflammatory), it has a rather long half-life, and at least one report
of toxicity has been reported in an infant. Other choices would include
ibuprofen.
With a 6 month old infant, I doubt either one of these drugs would
be dangerous for the infant.
