Cathy,
I just wanted to say what a remarkable young woman that must be to breastfeed
her baby for 6 months when she had such a difficult time. Is she planning to
nurse this baby? Will you be able to stay in touch with her? I hope so.
When talking to pregnant teenagers (in a WIC clinic) my co_Leader and I have
always made a point of urging them not to decide one way or another about
breastfeeding until their baby is born. We have just suggested that they
listen to the information, practice with baby dolls etc., so that when their
baby is in their arms they will know what to do.
Please be encouraged that you were able to make contact with these young
mothers-to-be. They went away knowing more than they did before and they
know whom to call for help.
