I wanted to mention that I have been absolutely fascinated by Margie Profet's
new book, "Protecting Your Baby-to-Be: a revolutionary new look at pregnancy
sickness." She is an evolutionary biologist who won a MacArthur Fellowship and
has some interesting theories -- most of which speak to respecting the cues a
pregnant woman's body is sending. As someone who has been leveled by morning
sickness, this book is not only a breath of fresh air, it is a validation that a
horrible experience was in fact a well-tuned body working hard to protect a
fetus. Since breastfeeding support often requires convincing people to stop
intervening and let their body do what it does naturally, it's nice to see a
book that supports women letting their bodies do what they do naturally when
they are pregnant. You may want to give the book a look-see.
