Monica-
I'm days behind in reading Lactnet Digests, so if you've already received
this reply, sorry for the redundancy.
I'm at an age where I'm doing a lot of reading on menopause. Dry eyes is a
symptom reported by women during the process, probably due to decreased
estrogen production. This mother has had problems for years, so is it
possible she has a chronic problem with low estrogen? If so, the reduced
estrogen production during lactation could conceivably be aggravating the
already-existing problem. She may just need to continue using the
lubricating drops while she nurses. If it's important enough to her, she
probably won't mind, especially since she's already used to dealing with the
problem, to a lesser extent. She may worry less once she knows what she's
dealing with.
