Hi, 'netters: Yesterday, I happened on a fascinating "Talk of the
Nation" on NPR (National Public Radio for people outside the US). It was
a discussion of vegetarian diets and all the research pointing to their
health benefits (I'm about ready to become a vegetarian!). Anyway, one
of the guests was commenting on cow milk fats not being ideal for human
brain growth and that the formula companies take the cow milk fat out and
substitute vegetable fats because these are better for babies' brain
growth. I was under the impression that the reason the formula companies
did this was that the cow milk fats made the formula very undigestible.
Does anybody know how the use of vegetable fats in abm came to be? TIA,
Alicia. [log in to unmask]
