I just want to proclaim support of Diabetes Educators. Those who have sat
the exam use CDE and this is a important for them as IBCLC is for us.
An RN, CDE should be able to give accurate diet planning info but is very
likely to be working with a team and will refer the pt to an RD, CDE for diet
help. But, like in our field, if the person is a diabetes educator without
the credentials, you could be getting excellent info or garbage. My experience
has been that CDE's are generally more helpful than MD's, although an endo-
crinologist may be very helpful. I find lots of similarities between
the lactation and diabetes ed. practices.
