It sounds to me like you are describing a "keyhole" incision, which
attempts to retain some connections between breast and nipple. On the
good side, you said that the mother has sensation on the nipple. However,
the secondary question is of how much milk-making tissue was actually
removed. The best way to determine mom's potential is to have her pump
for several days on top of any breastfeeding that she does w/SNS, etc,
and see if the amount produced increases. In the meantime, it was and
still is imperative that she supplements.

I am assuming that baby's suck was normal, and not lacadaisical?

She may be able to partially breastfeed; how does she feel about this?
