Two of my LLL co-leaders daughters in this age group had very slow weight
gain at the same time. They were both healthy with normal activity leval but
both mothers were very concerned. Neither of these children had much intrest
in eating.
One child just had a very slow growth pattern but there are no apparent
health issues.
The other child had a heart murmur heard at this point and on ultra sound
found a very large heart defect (remember this child seemed healthy just
small) that had caused heart enlargment and beginning lung damage. The only
symptom this mother noticed was increased breathing during nursing and that
she her baby was a "good" sleeper.
The child had open heart surgery and is now growing like a weed.
