Breastfeeding and Natural Child Spacing, while discussing some natural
family methods and all that, also has a large discussion on the effects of bf
and fertility -- average return of periods for mothers practicing
"ecological bf" was something over 14 months.   (Bf & Natural Child Spacing by
Sheila Kippley).    I was luck - 25 months without (plus 9+ months of
pregnancy).  My periods returned two weeks after my daughter first slept
through the night.
