Mary: Your concern about how mothers will feel about a formula company
doing a survey on infant feeding is that probably they don't even think
about it. I doubt that they think this is a wonderful thing the company
is doing. As for the health professions, I can speak for myself that
although I use the Ross data since no other data are easily available, I
have no warmer feelings towards them because they do the survey. In my
opinion, they do this as a marketing survey, pure and simple. As for
your concern that direct contact between formula representatives and the
public is a violation of the WHO code, Ross and other companies are
already in gross violation of the code with their direct formula
