Fellow lactnuts:
I attended a meeting with a group of mds who are discussing ways to improve
services to their bfg. patients. Ironically, before the meeting proper, a
group of reps from a drug co which also markets an ABM gave a presentation on
a new drug for otitis media. The paranoid conspiracy buff who dwells in some
dark part of my brain was muttering about the irony of the immense profits to
be realized in the sales of drugs to treat a condition that would be
prevented or lessened if they were not also hugely profiting from the sales
of another of their products. They make money twice, and babies lose twice.
I did make a comment to the docs about ounces of prevention and pounds of
cure.
