Robin,
I'm sure you will get great info from the MDs and others on lactnet about
this, but my understanding is that insulin requirements generally go DOWN
during lactation. There will be adjustments for sure, but I would not say
that she will definitely need insulin during that time - she may very well
not. But since she is adult onset and then gestational diabetic now, she may
very well now need insulin in her future, but not because of the lactation.
Being gest. diabetic increases future risk of diabetes I believe.
I am anxious to hear the experts on this - as I will learn and file this info
along with many others.
