I am sorry to post on this topic twice, but the LLL Leader who wanted to
know the effects of menopause on lactation called me back and begged me for
expert information on this topic. Her local LC does not have Internet
access, so she asked me to ask again here.
This mother is nursing a toddler and undergoing classic symptoms of
menopause. I told her that someone on LACTNET said that grandmothers had
been known to nurse their daughter's babies in the past, which she
appreciated, but now she has more "modern" questions.
One is: should she or should she not take hormone replacement therapy? What
effects does HRT or no HRT have on breastfeeding?
If anyone knows anything about this, or has access to a database of
information they could point me to, I'd be very appreciative. Also, the
mother's e-mail address I'd posted didn't work, but [log in to unmask] seems to
work, so anyone who wanted to write her directly could use that address.
TIA
Sue Ann Kendall
