I think it was Dr. Woolridge who discussed various types of nipples at the
Georgetown U. lactation consultant training program four years age.   He had
done ultrasounds of infants at the breast and sucking on various rubber
nipples, and he said the NUK, while not perfect, really was closer to the
human nipple during suckling than any other he looked at.  (His study was, I
think, undertaken to examine the claims of another company whose ads declared
their product was "most like mom."  I believe he said he had contacted tha
company for evidence of their claims, and, lo and behold, there wasn't any.)
