I am not familiar with the Special Breast Cream that you metnioned, but if
you can get a copy of the package insert which lists the ingredients, it
might help you to understand why the RN in the hospital told themother to
wash it off. Check Riordan and Auerbach. In Chapter 9, there is a 2-page
chart that provides info on various breast creams, their ingredients and
whether they should be used. About the only one that seemed pretty
innocuous was lanolin. All others had things that the insert said was "for
external use only." In my book that means do not use on the breast since
anything that goes there is eaten off by the baby and thus becomes
"internal use."

Also, for my money, I do not recommend any creams that have to be taken
off. That exercise renders the original use of the cream unhelpful if not
outright damaging (further) that tender skin.
