From Denise Ferrell,again.
I thought it was interesting to see how Consumer Reports comments in their
Baby
Products Book about the Politics of Formula and the May 1993 antitrust suits
against 3 manufactureres. It seems that the profits were very high( for every
$1 the actual
cost was .16) for Abbott.(Similac) from 1980 to 1993 price was raised 207%.
It notes
that similar antitrust suits were filed against Bristol/myers Squibb(Enfamil)
and American
Home Products(SMA).The total settlements for these companies in Florida was
230million.
Is it coincidence that one year after these suits and national exposure, that
a debilitating
article in Wall Street was written on Breastfeeding. Was this a marketing
tactic or
retaliation. The article,by the way still insults me in yuppyland,as my heart
bleeds for the
actual suffering of the misinformed, uneducated or unsupported.
Bye D.F..
