Hi Jan R:
Thanks for Lithium info. I have more questions concerning this med, as it has
a narrow window for toxicity and so real care must be used for anyone on it
(adult or child): 1. In what instances would it be used short term, and are
there usually alternative treatments which could be tried first? (I'm
familiar with its use for bipolar disorders, but unfamiliar with other uses.)
2. What is considered as short term use? 3. How often would an infant's blood
need to be tested for serum levels? 4. Has anyone considered, or already
tried, to use saliva levels (after comparing with serum levels for baseline)
for infant whose breastfeeding mother is on Lithium?
Thanks--Karen Gromada
