I wish to acknowledge a special thanks to Jack Newman my
breastfeeding hero; to Maureen Minchin and Kathleen Auerbach my
breastfeeding gurus and Maureen Fjield my breastfeeding mentor
for all their breastfeeding expertise, knowledge and support.
For without each and every one of them, I would still be
uninformed and I would probably still believe in the bottle
culture.
I come from a region where breastfeeding was non existent so
to speak. I believe that the breastfeeding rate has somewhat
improved since then in that region. I received no instruction,
nor did I hear a word about breastfeeding when in nursing
school. I witnessed my first breastfeeding experience at age
27.
Now having reached mid-life, I breath, speak, dream, and live
breastfeeding. So, how did I become a breastfeeding convert?
I have to admit that all this happened when I slept with K.A.
and M.M. Hum ... Yes, this is a breastfeeding confession.
Many a night my husband caught me sleeping with Kathleen
Auerbach's and Maureen Minchin's breastfeeding manuals. I
could not let them out of my sight because I could actually
understand what I was reading. And they still remain security
blankets for me.
