Kathy,
I have a preg. client taking desyrl (trazodone) for depression. Dr. Hale's
book has a note on it, and the AAP describes it as use with caution. A new
ref. Goodnik,P. Pharmacokinetic Optimization of Therapy with Newer
Anti-depressants" PHARMKINET-THERA, 1994 27(4) pg. 317 describes this drug as
having "minimal penetration of trazodone into breastmilk." The OB and
psychiatrist think its ok, the pedi doesn't know. I provided copies of ref.
material and am letting them decide among themselves. I advised mom to
consider monthly well-child checks during early pp so baby could be
monitored. What do you think Dr. Hale?
