i think some of the hostility could have been avoided by choosing
different words to describe the difference in learning capacity between
breastfed and bottle-fed children.  no one likes to think/know that their
parenting choices are making their children less intelligent.

as for the assertion itself, i too have heard this and don't have any
supporting references.  but!  there is something in breastmilk that
formula doesn't contain which causes more brain cell development after
the baby is born.  this is why there is and iq difference.

i just thought about how much more of a smart-aleck i'd be if i had been
