In regard to the post I did a couple of weeks ago about the mom with ? weght gain
and her son in th 10% this is a note I received today. Sounds like she is getting
help and is really determined! She also speaks highly of the LC who helped her.
I took out her name.... Just thought I would share with all who responded.
Thanks for your help.
Susan J Prevatt
(I just went today and met with a lactation consultant, and she
spent two and a half hours with me. I told her a was a little low on funds
and would pay her as soon as I could. She was very understanding and helped me
anyways.
She analyzed my situation and came to the conclusion that my son, at 3 months,
was demanding a lot more food and that my breasts probably hit a steady point
in which they could not produce more milk. So having him on the SNS right
now is best.
We are going to try and increase my milk supply. I will still be able to
breastfeed for his entire year, just like I wanted, but I might have to use
the SNS for a long time. Cross your fingers and pray for me that I can bring
my milk supply up so that I can do away with the SNS thing.
The LC agreed that my son was doing fine on weight right up until he reach 2
months. She calculated that he was getting about an ounce a day, which is
good. But the time period between 2 months and 3 months, he was getting a
little less than an ounce. So my milk supply did go down or my breasts
couldn't keep up with his demand. I WON'T GIVE UP.
I will be attending my first La Leche League meeting next tuesday.
I know this meeting will give me the support I need.)
