To clear up the situation about the woman going off to the firing range, who
works at the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan. The employees at the camp are
*civilians* who work for the government -- civil service. I am the daughter
of a career Air Force officer (23 years -- WWII, Korea, Berlin Wall crisis)
so I know very well the committment required of people who enlist or are
drafted. This woman is a civilian. The training is required for all people
who work at the prison camp who want to advance. That's all. Most of the
"prisoners" at this camp are there because they were S&L vice presidents who
bilked investors out of money, or because they were the girlfriends of men
who were dealing drugs and they helped and got caught. Hardly the type who
need guards trained in military/FBI skills. Someone told me tonight that
the reality is her boss just thinks 6 months is plenty long enough for that
breastfeeding business to be going on. Sigh.
