I have used inhaled Ventolin, Becotide and Intal whenever I have breastfed,
(3years and 18months). I've never noticed any side effects in my children.
Although I could never consider not taking Ventolin (I am an asthmatic) when
I am ill, that is not just taking the drugs for prophylactic reasons, I
usually increase my Ventolin (and Becotide) accordingly, once again no
effect has ever been noticed in my children.
I have taken Ventolin orally (not while breastfeeding) and there were plenty
of side effects, but with inhaled doses I have to be taking an enormous
amount (when really ill) before I even get vague side effects.
I believe that serum levels of Ventolin, when taken by inhaler, are
negligable and so breastmilk levels are probably even lower.
