You're right - I don't normally share my "nursing history" with moms.
 Sometimes they ask outright and I tell them I nursed for a long time.  I do
give them the AAP recommendation (1 year), WHO recommendation (2 years) and
the average age of weaning worldwide (over 4, and that's the average).
I think it's hard to maintain our own credibility and not come across as bf
fanatics (though heaven knows I am one!) if we share our more "unusual" bf
personal history - long term nursing, nursing through pregnancy and tandem
nursing.  One of the nice things about talking to bf peers is that we can
discuss our own bf life with them at conferences etc.
It is different talking to nurses rather than moms.  Good luck with your
