I am showing my age, but we all need to remember that when "the pill" first
came out, the levels of hormones in them were considerably higher than they
are today. One result of taking them was marked increase in breast size,
often one or two cup sizes BIGGER!  Some women reported (nulliparous ones)
also experiencing stretch marks and reddening of the skin. When they went
off the pills that did this, the breast size did not revert to the previous
size.

I suspect that with the pills on the market today, the glandular changes
that occur as a result of oral contraceptive use is much less dramatic and
thus probably not noted by most people. That is not the same as nothing
happening. I doubt it would inhibit glandular changes as a function of
cyclic hormonal rhythms, only that they would be more subtle.
