I'm just north of you, Kathleen, and I've never been to the Lactation Institute,
but I've seen (felt) two palates I would describe as "bubble palates" in the
last couple of months (and more over the years). I was interested to read
Catherine Watson Genna's reference to OT literature linking a high arched palate
with weak intrinsic tongue muscles because the "bubble palates" that immediately
come to my mind were associated more with poor weight gain and weak suck than
with sore nipples.

On the other hand, maybe I tend to do a digital exam more often with poor weight
gain than I do with sore nipples, so maybe those are the ones I've identified.
At any rate, I do see them. I'll have to feel around in that mouth model of
Chele's at ILCA and see if what I've been calling bubble palates are the same as
what she describes.
