My apologies for being so late in replying to the comment by Joan Fisher
which she replied to from May 24.

In the breast cancer program at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center
(Chicago) in February 1995, the point made over and over again was that
babies do not alway sserve as an early warning system by suddenly refusing
to nurse from a breast with a malignancy.

Those of us who see mothers with lumps need to STOP passing on this sort of
reassurance.  Better that she have that lump checked out than that she
assume it is strictly lactation-related and ignore what could kill her.
