Hi Judy,
Thanks for the "warm fuzzies"! Sorry to take so long to answer but it's
been a busy week.
>think about. What was the baby's Apgar? Don't know but since mother was
not aware that there was any concern re baby, I assume it was
satisfactory. Father did get to hold baby so baby was not whisked away.
Was delivery completely routine? According to Mom, it was a normal vaginal
delivery with epidural - no forceps or vacuum extraction, no other drugs.
Does mom take any meds? Unusual diet? Use herbal remedies? Not that I was
told about but her friend whom I saw about 2 months later said they
thought baby was probably suffering from chocolate withdrawal because she
was so addicted to chocolate bars during her pregnancy. Mom is not
overweight, plays badminton, walks a lot and looks athletic and healthy.
I was not aware of the chocolate obsession but friend/co-worker said she
could eat several frozen choclate bars for breakfast. Do you think it
could possibly be a factor?
Was obstetrical ultrasound done? Probably, it's pretty routine around here
but I don't know how many or when.
"Doll's Eyes Technique" was in Sara Danner's booklets back in '85-'86.
Remember those old dolls that closed their eyes when you laid them flat
and opened their eyes when brought upright? Well, that's it. Just
changing gravity pull on babe changes circulation and after 5 -10 times
they're usually wide awake and rooting. I tell moms it just gets the blood
flowing to baby's brain, makes them more alert and ready to feed.
