Regarding the comment about physicians and breastfeeding, I concur that it
bears no greater weight than anyone else and breastfeeding. Given the fact
that we all know that many physicians are poorly educated in breastfeeding,
why would we expect them to do any better than the population at large?  My
personal experience has been both pro and con. A neonatologist I work with
who breastfed has been very supportive of BF, and BF her own children. As did
a ped I worked with. But another ped I worked with was a BF disaster! I
certainly wouldn't send a client to her for advice! Another ped (male) did
not (obviously) BF, but is the most supportive colleague I have, and has gone
to the effort of learning as well.  My point, in short, is:
the status of MD, RN, or anything else has no bearing on this. Refer to the
person best qualified to help the client, regardless of position.
