As I was working on an educational program for health care providers, I
happened to think that you folks might not be aware of AHEC programs. They
have the potential to help with educational programs about breastfeeding.

Some explanation: AHEC=Area Health Education Center. These are federally
funded programs to use education to increase access/quality for health care in
rural and underserved areas. They have differenc characters in different
states, but are present in most states om the US. I work for the one in
Oregon. If your state has an AHEC, you might want to get in touch with them
to see if they are interested in educational programs for nurses, doctors,
nutritionists, etc about breastfeeding. We do continuing education courses
for a whole range of health professionals, and I am starting to work with a
couple of hospitals in our area on the BFHI. There may be money and interest
at your local AHEC office.
