The doc may have already suggested the following things: Are they using digestive enzymes to aid with digestion and absorption of nutrients? (As breastmilk is easily digested and the nutrients it provides are readily absorbed, I would imagine it should be the preferred source of nutrition over formula.) Supplementing with MCT oil may help with weight gain and it is easily digested. I wonder if it could be added to the expressed breastmilk or just fed to the baby as-is, since it has no taste. Also, a daily liquid multivitamin is probably in order.
