In the hospital where I work as an IBCLC, we use the microsteam bags for sanitizing purposes. There is a dedicated microwave on each unit where a mother might be pumping - postpartum, antepartum, NICU, and NAS remainer baby nurseries. Each bag is good for 20 uses. Mothers are instructed on proper cleaning using dish soap and proper sanitizing once a day using the microwave. This seems to fit the CDC guidelines. We also instruct mothers on the boiling water method for home to provide another option.
