Dear Lactnet Friends:

I agree with Nell that oversupply (this baby gained 3+ pounds in just a few
weeks!) should be ruled out first. A baby gaining with vomiting is not the
picture of pyloric  stenosis. Classically, those kids don't gain because
they can't keep enough down. Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis can be
palpated...has anyone done that?

As human milk is over 80% water, it will always be better than Pedialyte.
Electrolytes for imaging??? I've not heard that before.

Seems more sensible to start with what is easiest to rule out before
putting this family through a procedure.. . .

What does everyone else think?
