Tom Hale is actually, l2, with significant data.
The consensus in the epilepsy field (I worked for the Epilepsy Branch at the NIH for many years) and in the breastfeeding community for drugs used to treat epilepsy is that the benefits of breastfeeding and the benefits of the drugs outweigh the risks of the drugs and the risks of not breastfeeding. Of course, always monitor for any possible side effects.
Please get the baby on the breast AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
