Carol,
I have an ad blocker so haven’t seen their ads, I guess they are getting out there.
Thank you for the info that they get their milk for profit milk banks. There are a few for profit companies making human milk products for infants. These companies do pay for the milk they receive. Some of these companies have related non profit milk collection organizations as well.
I am interested to know what the arrangement is with the for profit milk companies. It is possible that Trulacta purchases milk that the milk companies cannot use for babies for whatever reasons - milk that would be fine in a supplement for adults, but not for a premature baby. I imagine that whatever milk can be used for babies is, it is the right thing to do, and the more profitable thing. I do not know anything about the arrangements Trulacta has with the for profit companies, I do not know how much milk they need to make their products, and how much business they actually have. All my thoughts are conjecture on my part.
Naomi
I noticed an ad from Trulacta in my Facebook shortly after this discussion began. I posted a comment about how I'd be upset if I donated milk which I thought was going to go to a sick or vulnerable child only to find out that it went to a a firm that made dubious supplements for adults. Trulacta replied that they only obtained milk from for-profit milk banks. Are there for-profit milk banks in North America? Are there for-profit milk banks anywhere?
I edited my FB settings to no longer see their ads.
