To Dr. Mobbs - Thank you for the excellent post, as well as thanks to those who added their thoughts on the subject.

To Hadassah - Dr Hale comments in his "Medications and Mothers" Milk" re: Lasix that "its maternal use could suppress lactation."  It is a diuretic often used with heart patients to keep them from retaining fluid and further stressing the heart.  Side effects he lists include: dizziness, headache, hypotension, ototoxicity, hyperglycemia, hyponatremia, hypokalemia, hyperuricemia, and changes in renal function.
