 I agree about the damage of using " non-nutritive" as a decriptive word for newborns at the breast.  I tell moms that all that sucking is telling the pituitary to "PRODUCE"!!!!!  Lots of sucking in first few weeks sets up long term supply.  Not sure why people don't get it....maybe because there is always another can of formula to make up if you think your baby is "hungry."  Pat in SNJ  PS: As long as sucking is not inflicting damage on mom!!!
