Back to the archives: Oct 9, 2015 Dee Kassing's treatment for persistent nipple blebsOct 10, 2013 Nikki Lee's summary of ideas from around the world9/22/99 Diane Wiessinger's comments about nipple blebs& Dr Ruth Lawrence's book
Several sources recommended opening the bleb with a sterile needle, warm soaks and then breast massage because there is usually a clog of milk behind the bleb. One source recommended putting lecithin on the nipple and another taking lecithin orally 1200mg TID.
About the sterile needle, I truly believe it is best for mom to do this herself. Someone else poking around my nipple with a needle isn't effective or kind!
I also found a handout by Cathy Watson Genna 2002. www.medela.com/NewFiles/nipblebs.html (not sure if this address still works)
and finally- WAB 2010 Dealing with Plugs and Blebs, tear off sheet
Would make a great JHL article if someone could summarize this. There are over a dozen articles etc about this issue, but I am a librarian, not an author, LOL
