Dear Lactnet Friends:
Every mother is drug tested on admission? That seems like an unreasonable
invasion of privacy to me.
If mothers can breastfeed when using nicotine, why not when using
marijuana?
If screening is done routinely, folks could have a discussion with the
mother about the risks of smoke (no matter what kind) to her baby, i.e.
increasing SIDS risk.
Our job is to educate, not to be police.
