Depends who you ask! I agree with Pat's take on that :-)
Also depends on where they are getting the referral as everyone has their
favorite provider.
In our area I've found that people with private medical insurance, good
dental insurance or of more comfortable means tend to go to dentists that
use lasers for release.
Families on state insurance/medicaid/medicare or of lower income tend to go
to providers that use scissors for release.
We are fortunate to have good options for both laser and scissors although
long wait times and travel to be seen continue to be obstacles.
Most important is a provider that is comfortable and knowledgeable as we
see incomplete releases with both laser and scissor. As always, good
lactation support is key. Unfortunately, a release doesn't always help even
when it appears to be complete. I wish it were as simple as releasing the
ties!
We have come so far in the last 4 years and we have so much more to learn.
