Help with an extremely low resource mom from Zimbabwe.

I am an IBCLC from Zimbabwe and I work with a network of midwives, some of
them rural. One midwife contacted me with a young mom of a two month old
who came to her with an abscess. Picture is available on request. The
abscess has ruptured and is draining pus and milk. The local clinic cannot
help, there is no money for any advanced care. She is on an antibiotic now
and paracetamol. Wound has been cleaned with salt water and honey put on
it. She is encouraged to hand express, latching the baby is very painful. I
have made arrangement to get a manual pump to her which she will get in 3
days, there is no electricity where she is.

The midwife will see the mom again tomorrow. Does anyone have any other
idea for this mom? Any abscess management tricks from times before surgery?
Ideally we want to preserve breastfeeding as formula is very expensive
(about a quarter of a month's earnings for a simple farm labourer per tin).

Thank you!

Katinka
