Michelle asks,

cabbage is one vegetable recommended to help decrease mothers engorgment .
There are also potential complications from this intervention . Is this
a frequent recommendation made by lactation consulatants, use of cabbage
for engorgement ?>>

What complications are you thinking of? And are they theoretical or
actual? How many have been documented in the literature? Or is it a case of
"because listeriosis has been found in cabbage, don't use it for
engorgement....?"

I've been using it for my moms and for others for edema caused by
spraining an ankle (my husband), preventing swelling after oral surgery (my son),
etc etc since Wendy Rosier published her first case studies on it in
November, 1988. I've found it incredibly effective -- even more so now that I've
coupled it with Reverse Pressure Softening (thanks to the late Jean
Cotterman).

Keep in mind there are potential complications for everything, including
taking Tylenol for a headache or getting in the car to go to the grocery
store....
