Hi Maria,
In regard to your request for updating hospital policy that incorporates Baby Friendly practices, the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM) is an international organization of physicians dedicated to the promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding and human lactation. Their most helpful website includes beautifully written, evidence-based protocols. Their Model Breastfeeding Policy for hospitals states, in part, that it is policy "based on recommendations from the most recent breastfeeding policy statements published by the Office on Women’s Health of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the World Health Organization, the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, and the UNICEF/World Health Organization evidence-based Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding." Here is a link to the full protocol, which I think you'll find very helpful.
