Artificial nipple effectiveness seems to arbitrary - really often just
depends on the baby and his particular needs. Some like longer and
sometimes softer nipples that can be found on the older models. You are
right that some new models may look more like a real nipple and encourage a
wider gape, but the if they can't elongate and soften like the real thing,
the baby may not appreciate the aesthetics.
