Dear Friends,
I am posting for a friend who just called me following a housecall. (She
doesn't have time to post in between house calls.)
She has just seen a young mother, first birth, one week postpartum. On one
of her breasts is what looks like - in a picture that she sent - a very
bifurbicated nipple with a lot of empty space between the two parts. My
friend said that in reality, it looks like 2 tiny pimples.

The really puzzling thing though, is that no milk can be expressed out of
the nipple and there seems to be no openings.

The woman's breast feels entirely normal besides that, full yet not
engorged, not lacking tissue. Hand expression yields nothing and when they
used a pump, despite tissue being pulled into the flange. the mother said
that she didn't feel any vacuum and no milk was expressed.

The other side is perfectly normal.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Would you reccomend an ultra sound
to see what is happening inside the breast? Is there anything to do besides
dry up that side? Anything for future babies?

Thank you so much for your input,

Chayn Fogelman, Israel
